A survey is used to receive insights from a variety of individuals and can be conducted through different formats which include Different Survey Question Types. Each question type has its own pros and cons but most of them are extensively used in conducting surveys and receiving feedback from the target audience. Let us look at the different types of survey questions.
Multiple Answer Options
The respondent can choose from different answer options for a survey question. These types of questions are easy to answer and is also easy for the result analysis. The main drawback of this type of question is that it might not provide an option that the respondent would want.
Multiple Choice Questions
Just as the name tells these types of questions to allow the respondents to choose from two or more answer options. The answer choices can be just a simple 'Yes' or 'No' or different answer options.
Multiple Checkbox Questions
These are also multiple choice questions but instead of just choosing an answer choice this gives an option to choose multiple answer. This helps in receiving better Customer Feedback.
Dropdown
In this type of question, the answer options are provided in a drop-down style and the respondent can expand the down arrow to view the answer options and choose one.
Image Type
This is a type of question with multiple answer choices but the answer options will be images instead of wordings.

Open-Ended Questions
These questions provide the flexibility for the user to answer in their own words. The respondents are free in choosing their words and giving the answers but these types of questions may be time-consuming and are also difficult to analyze the survey results. Textbox
A single textbox is provided for the respondent to answer and provide their opinions.
Multiple Textbox
This type of question is used for the respondent to provide more than one answer and also in their own words.

What would you change or improve the product?
Rating Type Questions
These types of questions are used to rate the answer for a given scale. We should make sure to use the same scale for all questions as it is not the same to compare 2 out of 5 and 2 out of 10.
Star Rating
This type question is used to provide star rating as the answers. The number of stars chosen will serve as the answer and in turn, will help in the rating.
Example :
How would you rate the customer service?
Slider
In this type of questions, each end of the scale is marked with different or opposing statements or numbers. These are easier to compile the results. But it is difficult to analyze what the respondent has actually meant as each individual would have responded according to their thoughts of the same quotient.

Net Promoter Score
